Characteristics are described with a degree of granularity intended for die identification more so than for die classification. A characteristic may not span the entire die progression. Thus, not all characteristics may be present in any one coin.

Obverse: III2-6.
  • Date set at the Near position. 6 in date doubled at top outside of upper loop as thick curved line and at top outside of lower loop as a short thin line.
  • Small crack from the left top of the 1 into the right side of bust point. Crack from the left side of bust point into the field to the right of LS1.
  • Distinct polish lines in the small bear claw void.
  • Die chips between the cotton bolls.
  • Polish lines in the top half of the LIBERTY banner letters.
  • Foot on right side of the Y of LIBERTY is polished open.
  • Heavy polishing behind ear and in hair below the center of the bottom of the cap.
  • Very weak clash line from eagle's right wing at Liberty's neck. No letter transfer.
  • Weak left wreath clash marks at Liberty's lips.
Reverse: C3a.
  • Die crack across RW5, wreath bow, LW5 into the top and thru the O in ONE terminating in the denticles below the O.
  • Mild triple clash from Liberty's lip area at LW1.
  • Weak clash line of Liberty's neck at the top of the eagle's right wing. Very weak clash line on obverse with no letter transfer.
  • Die crack at the right side of the left star into the O of ONE.
  • Die crack with several small breaks from left star across the top of UNITED.
  • Weak die crack from the top of LW1, across the eagle's right wing tip, terminating at the bottom of the first S of STATES.
  • Die crack with a few small breaks from the denticles above the right wing tip across the top of STATES terminating in the denticles above OF. Divergent crack into the top of the O in OF.
  • Weak die crack with a few small breaks through the top of MERIC of AMERICA.
  • Die crack with a break between LA, across the bottom of LLAR in DOLLAR terminating in the denticles below the right star.
Comments: VSS Attributed 7/2023. This coin is graded NGC MS-63. Sometimes confused with a VAM-2. The doubling on the 6 with a VAM-6 is set slightly higher and is thicker than with a VAM-2. The date on a VAM-2 is also set further left in the Very Near position.
