Characteristics are described with a degree of granularity intended for die identification more so than for die classification. A characteristic may not span the entire die progression. Thus, not all characteristics may be present in any one coin.
VAM-32B WAS ELIMINATED AND BECAME VAM-19B. VAM-32A WAS ALSO ELIMINATED AND BECAME VAM-19A.
The above actions were taken by Mr. Leroy C. Van Allen as a result of my submission of July 2, 2018 asking that he examine the VAM-19A and the VAM-32A as I felt that both VAMs were minted by the same die pair.
OBVERSE ATTRIBUTES: The Date is set much further right than normal (Very Far Date). A die break with slight displacement can be seen between the 3rd and 4th Right Stars
Markers:
REVERSE ATTRIBUTES: The Mint Mark is set high and tilts left.
Markers: Diagonal die file line or two in the triangle of the Eagle's Left Leg (Right Leg as viewed).
COMMENTS ON THIS COIN:
- This coin has all of the attributes associated with the VAM-19B (formerly VAM-32B). While this coin certainly appears to be a VAM-19B, my Page Heading notes this as a Variety Not Certified (VNC) as it has not been certified by the PCGS, NGC, or ANACS as a VAM-19B; nor has it been confirmed as a VAM-19B by the VSS.
- An Obverse Clash Line can be seen exiting just above the joint of Liberty's Jaw and Neck.
- The Ear is doubled at both inside Ear walls and at the bottom of the Ear Lobe.
- There are signs of a gouge or die file line below the I in the second word of the Obverse Motto, PLURIBUS.
- A Reverse Clash Line can be seen exiting the top edge of the Eagle's Right Wing (Left Wing as Viewed).
- A thick gouge is seen in the cavity of the Bow.

Comment: The center position of a Normal Date is 2.5 Denticles from the Bust Point. However, a Date can be set "within normal tolerance" without resting at 2.5 Denticles from the Point. In this case, the Date is positioned much further to the right of the 2.5 Denticle mark and outside Normal Date tolerance. |
Comment: Die crack and Die break feature. |
