1902-O VAM-25 070518
Characteristics are described with a degree of granularity intended for die identification more so than for die classification. A characteristic may not span the entire die progression. Thus, not all characteristics may be present in any one coin.
OBVERSE ATTRIBUTES: Lower right outside of Ear is tripled. Doubling is seen on the hair above the Ear and underneath the eyelid. Doubling is also seen on the right of the right Cottom Boll and bottom of the lower Cotton Leaf. The Date is set further left than is normal, but still falls within a tolerance of what is considered as a Normal Date. A Die file line is seen to the left side of the first Left Star.
Marker: None.
REVERSE ATTRIBUTES: The Mint Mark is set high, to the right, and tilted left. The Olive Branch contains and extra Olive. Doubling is seen at the top edge of the Olive Branch to the right of the Olives. There is doubling at the top and left Olive Leave clusters, the arrow feather end next to the Olive Branch, middle talon of Eagle's right leg, to the right of the Eagle's Nostril and Eye and at the back of the lower Arrow Head. Additionally, there are a number of letters of the Reverse Legend,
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, that are doubled.
Marker: None.
COMMENTS ON THIS COIN:
- This coin has all of the attributes applicable to the VAM-25 and has been certified as a VAM-25 by the ANACS.
- There is an unidentified feature seen at the right of the Y in the Obverse Legend, LIBERTY. This might be Post Mint Damage (PMD).
- The e in the Reverse Motto, In God We Trust, is filled. Whether this feature was present on the Discover Coin is unknown to me. However, it has been seen on at least one other specimen; see VAMWorld's VAM-25 Page, which contains an image of the filled e.
