1889-P VAM-21 Doubled Ear and Lower Cotton Leaves, Far Date - Die Sequence #1
Obverse III2 20 - Ear slightly doubled at left and right inside and right outside. Slightly doubled lower right edge of hair above ear and lower left edge of leaf below cotton boll
and lower edges of lower cotton leaf. Date set further right than normal.
Die marker - Doubled lower left edge of cotton leaf below cotton bolls and lower edges of lowest cotton leaf.
Reverse C3a - Normal die. |

1. Early die states have only polishing line at third right tail feather. Later die states have added short horizontal die scratch above right olive branch.
