1898-O VNA-8 9094. Date Set High, Slanted, and 2.25 Denticles from the Bust Point. Mint Mark Set Center, High, and Upright. Doubled Tripled+ Legend Reverse.

Obverse: Attributes. Date Set High, Slanted, and 2.25 Denticles from the Bust Point. Markers. Diagonal line in the left bottom serif, vertical bar, and top left vertical serif of R of LIBERTY. Line connects the lower region of the cotton boll husks. Line crosses all cotton boll stems. Vertical scratch on nose starts at the upper eyelid and extends to below the level of the lower eyelid. Diagonal lines extend from the roof of the cap fold. Vertical gouge inside ear. Horizontal line extends from right side of ear lobe near junction with helix. Horizontal line in upper and curved gouge in middle of D-void. Two diagonal lines in upper hair swirl. Flat and sunken right stars 1-2.
Reverse: Attributes. Mint Mark Set Center, High, and Upright. Doubled inside leaves of LW2-3. Doubled TED and ST of legend. Doubled G of "In God we trust". Doubled scratch across left wing tip. Markers. Horizontal gouge along top of S of STATES. Surface doubling along tops of TA of STATES. Gouge connects RU and bridges U of trust of IGWT. Gouge bridges st of trust of IGWT. Crosshatching of diagonal lines in left wing gap with two short lines extending from above the elbow. Field beveling at tip of right wing. Small gouge in left leg gap between second and third transverse tail feathers. Dense horizontal lines in left and right leg triangles. Two lines extend from third ring of right leg to the seventh upper tail feather. Diagonal gouge near base of fifth outer feather from the bottom of the left wing. Thick lines between upper arrow feather and olive stem. Lines connect olive leaf clusters. Field shadowing of outside long leaf of first left wreath cluster. Dense lines cross inside bow loop and extend from outside right bow loop to the adjacent fifth right wreath cluster. Dense lines connect ribbons and adjacent wreath clusters. Lines connect the fifth left and right wreath clusters to the adjacent laurel berries. Dot on field between first and second tail feathers.
